How does cognitive psychology apply to how I've become who I am today?
I believe I have reached my formal operational stage in Jean Piaget's Stages of Cognitive Development. My reasoning is because I have gotten to a point in which I can use abstract logic and thinking as well as using concepts learned in one context can be applied to another. Since I've been progressively learning how to draw, I can use it in many various things. My creativity can be applied to many categories like woodworking to make artistic looking projects or in photography where I can feature my drawings.
The image is a photo of a pillow I made a design on in sewing back in 6th grade (the very start of my attempt to learn drawing). I utilized my little drawing capabilities to make this design in an assignment to get a good grade. I used my formal operational thinking to come up with the idea to use this skill for the design when alternatively I could have printed and copied someone else's design. This is a part of me because of how I've used drawing to express my emotions and thoughts through various things as well as to keep me occupied when bored.
