How does humanistic psychology apply to how I've become who I am today?
I believe that in Maslow's hierarchy of needs I'm on the level in which I need to attain more esteem before I can reach self-actualization. Maslow explains that you need many things in order to progress to self-actualization such as needing food and water, needing financial and physical security, having a place of love and belonging, having feelings of accomplishment and positive self-esteem and lastly reaching self-actualization where you desire to become the best you could be. I'm currently working on having higher esteem since I currently have friends that give me a sense of belonging and make me feel cared for and included.
I have reached love and belonging in the hierarchy with the support of many friends, some of my more recent and new ones being from church. The picture is a photo from Winter Camp where my friends and I were outside due to not wanting to be in the crowding inside the building so we all were just drawing together. We all drew our own takes on the same topics and heavily agreed that we didn't want to be in the crowded environment of the game room. That is where I recently acknowledged my feelings of belonging and why I believe I've met that need.
